A Good Percentage

I have been spending the last couple of weeks editing many of the photographs I took on my recent trip to South Haven. What is rare, for me, about this editing session is the number of photos that I call my “selects” — images that I find appealing and worthwhile to spend time post-processing.

Depending on the location, weather conditions, and the job I do as a photographer, the percentage of select images out of a total shoot may be no better than fifty percent. Out of that amount, usually only three or four images have the quality and interest to be posted online or printed for my taste. In this South Haven trip, however, my selects were about eighty percent, AND I just finished printed off eleven images that will be gallery worthy. A pretty good catch, based upon my history.

Why? A few reasons come to mind: 1) ideal weather conditions, 2) patience, and 3) knowing my camera gear. I will talk about these in depth at a later time.

Please enjoy these images. They will be going up in my online gallery soon, and if you are so inclined, will be available for purchase as well.
